About

The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) is a non-profit, educational and scientific association aiming to improve patient care through the support of teaching, science, research and clinical practice in the field of cardiovascular and interventional radiology. A key part of this mission is the development of Standard of Practice (SOP) documents which are designed to provide a practical guidance for physicians in their daily medical practice.

We are now looking for a new team member to join our Editorial Office team, which oversees the production of CIRSE’s SOP documents and manages CIRSE’s scientific journals: CVIR, CVIR Endovascular and CVIR Oncology. As an Editorial and Publications Project Manager, you play a central administrative role in the creation and publication of these highly regarded documents written by leading experts in the field.

This position is ideal for a highly organized project manager who can effectively manage the development of SOP documents from initial concept through to publication. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and capable of working independently while coordinating multiple stakeholders across different institutions and countries.

Editorial and Publications Project Manager

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development, review, and publication of CIRSE SOP documents
  • Manage the full document lifecycle, from topic proposal and author recruitment to final publication and promotion
  • Monitor project timelines and milestones to ensure timely production of all documents
  • Act as liaison for the Standards of Practice Committee; coordinate communication between committee members, authors, reviewers, editors and external stakeholders
  • Organise in-person and online meetings; including coordinating invitations, compiling agendas, providing presentations, taking minutes, and follow up on action points
  • Draft correspondence, presentations, content for newsletters
  • Review documents for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and adherence to the committee’s mandate
  • Prepare progress reports, presentations and updates for the committee Chairperson and CIRSE’s leadership
  • Work in the manuscript submission and peer-review system
  • Manage website content and coordinate promotional activities

Key requirements

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

  • An academic degree or at least two years of work experience in a similar role
  • Experience in coordinating projects involving subject matter experts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with native or near-native proficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organisational, analytical, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organise and moderate in-person and online meetings
  • Ability to facilitate efficient communication between different stakeholders
  • Excellent editing, proofreading, and quality control skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize competing deadlines

Desirable qualifications

  • An understanding of peer review, editorial, and publication processes
  • Experience working with committees, working groups, or professional medical societies
  • Advanced written and spoken German or additional languages
  • Knowledge of manuscript submission systems, such as Editorial Manager

The minimum starting salary is € 2,800 gross, whereas an overpayment is possible based on the qualification and experience of the candidate.
