As a Database Engineer you are responsible

to design, develop, and maintain our database services. You are experienced working in a UNIX-based server environment, show a willingness to analyze issues end-to-end, from application level, through database down to storage and care about quality and performance of services. You work in a team of highly motivated developers, interacting daily with our cross-functional team of bioinformaticians, engineers, and other professionals.

Required qualifications:

Deep knowledge designing and maintaining PostgreSQL databases
Experience working in a Linux environment including memory management, I/O tuning, configuration and security
Willingness to analyze issues through the whole tech stack from application, through database down to storage layer
Experience in performance optimization of database queries
Knowledge of building highly available, and highly fault-tolerant databases for distributed (micro)services
Passion for clean, concise, and maintainable code
Experience with version control systems such as Git
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience in agile development and a product-focused mentality

Nice-to-haves:

Knowledge of state-of-the-art application level database frameworks like Liquibase, Hibernate of Spring Data
Proficiency in deployments on Kubernetes
Knowledge of CI/CD tools like GitLab CI or Jenkins
Experience with distributed SQL databases like Greenplum, CockroachDB, or YugabyteDB
Dedicated to mentoring junior members of the team

You’ll earn a salary starting at a minimum of EUR 35.252 per year (according to IT-KV). Willingness for over-payment is given for candidates with proper experience and/or qualifications.
