Based in Laxenburg, near Vienna, Austria, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is an international scientific institute that conducts research into the critical issues of global environmental, economic, technological, and social change that we face in the twenty-first century. Over 300 scientists from 45 countries carry out research at IIASA in collaboration with some 2,500 associated and visiting scientists from 65 countries.

This position for an HR Expert offers the exciting opportunity of joining the HR department of an international, multicultural organization, reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the reworking of the performance evaluation process, job leveling and remuneration systems
  • Implements and monitors job descriptions on an ongoing basis
  • Develops an orientation and welcome program for new staff members
  • Manages the new HR intranet project
  • Reorganizes the HR filing system, with emphasis on digitalization
  • Optimizes and implements HR processes, rules and guidelines
  • Sets up and organizes staff development measures
  • Supports the Head of HR in gender and diversity topics
  • Performs other tasks as necessary to benefit the department
  • Deputizes for other Human Resources staff during absences

Background and Qualifications

  • Completed commercial education, preferably an academic qualification
  • At least three years of relevant HR experience in an international intercultural environment
  • Project management experience in the HR field advantageous
  • Relevant knowledge of Austrian labor law
  • Service and solution oriented team player
  • Accurate, reliable and independent style of working
  • High ability to prioritize and structure clearly
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Very good knowledge of all MS Office applications
